transmission fluid drain?

How do I drain some of the fluid out of my transmission? I need to add some supplement to the fluid to recondition the o ring to stop the late shifts that are happening.

FWI, converted low beam bulbs into high beam bulbs, 20% tint all around, MSD wires, NDK TR55 plugs, auxiliary line in, scan gauge, custom FloPro/MagnaFlow Cat back exhaust

use a hand pump or siphon tube in the filler tube. I would reccomend a pump. They are $5 at harbor freight $10 at checker/advance

siphon it out the dipstick, or loosen the bolts on the pan until you get out what you need (gonna be messy)

Another vote for siphon from dipstick tube. Dropping the pan to remove a pint or so of fluid is way more trouble than is necessary.

i use a jack rabbit pump like this Image

for draining my coolant, and trans fluid. works great.

I'm adding a trans pan drain plug next time I change my filter/fluid. I forgot to add it when I changed the fluid after 600 miles after the rebuild. I bolted the pan up and added fluid before I remembered the plug I had. :ack:

I've considered that myself, but I fear a plug would be the lowest-hanging thing on the pan and could get sheared off if you ran over something.

Maybe if you tack-weld on some kind of "deflector shield" on front of the drain plug?

What I ultimately did was get a Motive Power fluid extractor (12 or 15 qt IIRC) and just suck ATF out the dipstick tube.

I suppose that is possible, though if it happened to someone they would have the worst luck ever, as the odds are slim that they hit it. :lol: The bottom of the trans pan is higher that the subframe, which makes me feel better. However, though draining it through a plug is easy, sucking it out of the dipstick tube is even easier b/c you don't have to jack the car up. Definitely a good idea.
