94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
Hey everyone,
I need some help here. What are your recommendations for good sounding, hellaloud exhaust on a 94 SE?
I've considered glasspack, Flowmaster, SLP, straight pipes... anything else?
Right now its the stock cat and 1st resonator, then dumps before the right rear axle
Thanks!

LOL, wrong forum. Mod, please move this to the proper forum.
On the exhaust. Do you want to sound like a ricer? If you go too wild, above 3,000 RPM it's going to sound like a rice machine. Most run flowmaster or magnaflow mufflers, go with a high flow cat, and some nice tips. Good mellow rumble, without sounding like a ricer.

Oh sorry guys... kinda new to this place- didnt mean to post in the wrong place =/
Of course I do not want it to sound like rice, lol. Heres a link to how it sounds now, but now it dumps before the rear axle:

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
The Flowmaster 80 Series on my '93 SSE is fairly loud. It's a good deal louder than stock, but if you have an exhaust leak, your leak may be louder, lol.
The Flowmaster, In my opinion, has a great tone at idle. But once the RPM starts climbing it will get raspy and pop a bit.
I've heard a Magnaflow in person now, and had I heard it before I got the FM 80 I would have gone with the Magnaflow. The Magnaflow is quiet and mellow and has an great tone at idle and doesn't get so raspy like the FM 80 does.
I can't speak for any other muffler on a Bonneville that I can recall. But I will tell you that you should hear what you want in person. Videos online can be radically different than what it actually sounds like. but for what it's worth, here's a clip of my FM 80:

For some reason the camera really picked up on the buzzzzz sound, it's not quite that overwhelmingly horrible to hear in person...lol, so as I said, try to hear it in person first.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
Hey man thanks for the info, that helps a lot.
I like it loud lol, as you can see from my video. I am considering a magnaflow high flow cat and then we'll see after that. maybe straight pipe from there, because i dont need it to sound clean.
Do you know anything about Eibach Springs? I am considering a Pro-kit and am wondering if it will even benefit my car.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
I wasn't aware Eibach made anything that would fit your car. Or any other aftermarket spring manufacturer.
Drop springs are purely custom one-off's.
You can go to the wrecker and strip the suspension off an SSEi (4 springs, two swaybars and bushings) for a great upgrade and a low price.

Go with the flowmaster, Ive been running one for a few years now and it still sounds the same as the day I put it on.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
And my suggestion would be Magnaflow. A less-raspy/tinny mellow alternative at lower RPM's, but with a deep lumpy idle. Really opens up in the higher rpm's.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SE and I have just Hi flow magma flow converter and dual muffler on my car it sound pretty good and looks pretty good to me. but if you rev the egine quickly and you are parked next to a car with a alarm system you could set it off like i have before.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
Pontiac SE93, what are the "dual mufflers" you are running??
And Whitearrow380o, thanks for the video! Thats basically how mine sounds now, mine is just a little more raspy at higher rpm's.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
I believe he's saying he's running a muffler with a single inlet and dual outlets.

And I'm assuming "Magma Flow" is Magnaflow?

Are you sure it's not Magnaflow? I've never heard of Magma Flow.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
long story short the majority of bonne owners run a high flow cat (magnaflow brand) and either magnaflow or flowmaster muffler. i personally have the magnaflow cat and a flowmaster crossover muffler and mine is raspy at WOT but sounds like a V8 at idle.

Re: 94 Bonnie SE exhaust questions?
yes i meant magnaflow thanks for correcting me. I love the sound that it makes because nice sound at high revs. If you do it right you can set off a car alarm.
