2001 Perimeter light and chiming

I would appreciate help with a new issue with my 2001 Bonneville.

All of the sudden, when I pull the key, it keeps chiming and the perimeter lights stay on. I have programmed to shut off perimeter lighting to no help, and I disconnected the battery overnight, because I heard it would reset the computer and clear it up. That didn't work either. Any ideas?

Sounds like it might be the switch in the tumbler.

What is a tumbler?
Does that mean take it to the Pontiac dealer?

It is where you insert the key to start it. If I remember correctly, it is not that hard to get to.

You don't happen to have the headlight switch on do you? It's located on the turn signal stalk. I had the same problem when I first got my car.

Thanks for saving me a trip to the dealer. That was it. We never use the switch and I forgot it was there. Thanks for the Help.
