If you have 17" rims....plan on spending some money.:angry4:

I agree, Goodyear Assurance Tripletread tires are great tires with a long life expectancy.....just too expensive. The Perrilli P-Zeros are a better gripping tire but tread wear life is a concern. I picked the Yokohama Avid H4S tires and love them. Same ratings as the Perrilli with 60K warranty. Oh, and they just cost a bit more than the Perrilli and much cheaper than the Goodyear. Haven't tried them in the snow yet but dry and wet traction is excellent.

It all depends on how much snow driving you do. 8 inches of snow was no problem for the triple treads on my highlander, but that is also a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
But then again, they were $600+ for the 4 tires.

My dad just got goodyear eagle gt's on his TL, and he loves them thus far. Haven't been tried in the snow yet though.

For me, going to school in indiana, and traveling the dreaded I-65 in the winter, triple treads were the way to go for me, and will be going on the Bonneville when the RS-A's wear out.

Didn't pirelli have quality control issues with the p-zero?

I dont know yet what brand of tires im going to be getting, but this place has used but almost new tires. Its a big tire shop. I will try to get all season tires, as long as its a good brand im getting them because for less then $200 for 4 used(almost new) tires is a great deal.

Plus they will balance my wheels and give me an alignment for free. Thats a deal I cannot walk away from.

make sure they are good tires. do some research. Don't consider buying these before you know what brand much less what model they are. Some tires (for that cheap, they most likely are) are just junk.

I agree. I personally would never buy "barely" used tires. You have no idea the history of the tire.

Tires are expensive, but their an investment, and some good tires will last 50,000 miles if not more.

I would ask exactly what brand and model they have for that price, and read some reviews of the tire on tirerack.com.

even within those brands there are bad tires. each manufacturer has high and low end tires. Find some that you can afford and research them before buying

Yea, i'll probably go today, the thing is, i dont have much time because my tires are bad. My dash board has the check tire pressure on all time even after i pump air. so 1 is already going flat and the others are on there way. I need new tires ASAP. Since im only going to be using the 16's for the winter, i might(depends on price) be getting used ones.

This is because in the spring/summer, im going to get some GXP rims, and i will have to buy them new tires for sure. That is why, i dont want to spend alot for the grand prix rims i have now, because im only going to be using them until maybe end of march. I know the GXP tires are going to cost alot.

after you fill it up you need to press reset on your DIC until that message goes away. check it with a gauge, dont trust the dash.

You need to reset your tire pressure monitor after you make sure all the tires are within spec. Hold down the Reset button for 10+ seconds.

bro, get some WINTER ONLY tires..dont matter which, f*** the all seasons if you have snow.

so much better especially if you dont have full coverage...you wont wreck with em.

I run GXPs with summer only tires in the summer and 16" dunlop Winter somethings. Change to the winters in november when the snow starts getting decent then back to april the GXPs come back on.

I'm on my 3rd year for winter tires (have about 8,000 miles on them) still 1/2 tead left.

Yea you aint lyin. I went today to the shop, they have a special on new tires. The thing is, the brand, but i can care less, because im only using them for winter. Plus im using 2000 grand prix(five star rims) right now, so im just going to get new tires for the winter.

The brand they had was call GT Radial. I never heard of them, but they looked good. The guy said, there new and there good company. I might go back tommorow or next weekt to get them.
4 New Tires ( GT Radial ) Free Balance - Free Alignment - for only $250. Im getting them.

Im getting the GXP's for the summer anyways so i will have to buy new tires for them too.

I haven't ever heard of gt radial as a brand, and a little research shows that they're a Chinese imported brand.
If they look good, go for it I guess. Personally, would I? No.
See if they have a winter specific tire, which I'm almost positive they do (I saw a review on a winter tire).

I would just be careful, because I think a tire's winter performance is just as important as summer performance.

If the shoe fits, wear it right?

P.S. - What happened to your original rims? Or did you buy the car used with the grand prix rims?

I'd definitely go for triple treds. For my 93, 225-60R16s came out to be about $600 total, mounted and balanced. Apparently they're AWESOME in the winter...and probably THE best A/S tires you could possibly have for year round conditions.

Yea, i bought the bonne used with the grand prix rims(16inch) on it. Im not going to spend $600 for tires, personally i think thats too much for tires. plus, im only going to be using these tires/rims for the winter. then in the summer, i will be getting 18's. maybe gxp's or other 18's. but that is why im not spending alot of money on these tires.

Triple treads are very pricey for what you get. Pirellis are a much better option IMO. Also loved the BFGoodrich traction t/a when I had them on my bonne. Much better in summer than a TripTred, and about the only thing they're not as good as is glare ice (still ok, just not as good as the goodyears).

We've had both of them in the family on the same car btw... a fwd sedan.

I love my Dunlops for summer/autocross (dunlop = goodyear) but as mentioned, everyone has good and bad tires. Tires are made in many factories alongside many other brands, even competitors.

Winter and Summer sets are a nice setup for sure. Just get some Winter tires this month for your car on the OE wheels, and then pickup a nice wheel/summer tire combo come april/may if the budget allows.

Specs mean nothing as well, treadwear, temp rating etc. It can correlate between models in one manufacturer's range usually (still not always even in same brand) but between brands, they're somewhat meaningless. Read reviews on Tirerack.com, discounttire.com, etc... Our family loves Discounttire, they've always done the right thing for us, and Tirerack is also a great place, Discount is actually very competitive with them price wise.
