Since everyone else is buying cars (SOLD - page 9)

Post by harofreak00 »

ahhh yes, another 2000...

2000 SE - Midnight Blue Metallic - 210k - non-working Overdrive - $1600

The car is filty. The previous owner lived on a gravel road and everything is covered in dust. It looks like she took a washcloth to the entire interior, but that made it even look worse. Its gonna get a major harofreak00 cleaning. There are a few things wrong with it other than the trans. The fuel sender is broken, the oil pressure sensor is broken. There is some scratches on the trunk, missing clearcoat on the passenger mirror, cigarette burns in the headliner (looks like I'm doing another one of them!) one of the rims is losing clearcoat... otherwise its a pretty sound car.

All the miles are highway, this lady drove 40,000 a year back and forth from Springfield, MN to Marshall, MN. The intake gaskets were changed at 30k, but haven't been touched since! :eek2: I will be trying to fix the transmission myself, with LOTS of help from agrazela :hail:

Here she is in all her filthy glory. I should be able to wash it down tomorrow.

You're an addict! Hopefully some TLC will have it looking good in no time.

P.S.- Does the radio only have a tape deck? It looks like it.

Yup, just tape. I'm kinda surprised considering its a pretty well optioned SE, center console, ECC, steering wheel controls, etc...

I might end up buying that CD deck from you now, hopefully the price hasn't gone up

I'm guessing there's about 250,000 miles on it.

Looks like another fun flip! I expect tons of work progress, lots of pictures, and new and innovative ways to fix these issues you've pointed out. Of all that's listed here, is the coolant really in that bad of a shape? Do the gaskets have to fail over time? You should absolutely fix it up, but please take a few pictures of the gaskets and UIM. I'm very interested to see how they turned out after roughly 180K miles after the OEs were replaced.

Are you gonna make enough on the flip? Blue book maxes out at $3610 in my area, unless it is more in yours. Any idea on tranny issue? I think that will make or break it.
