Unsure if I’m making a mistake

I got a 2001 Pontiac bonneville with 200k miles and the trans is due for a service but it’s shifting rough, had a tick on cold just for a minute then goes away besides that a few little stuff but I’m not sure if it’s even worth building with it having some issues already and being a base model. It’s been taken pretty good care of its whole life by my grandpa so I also feel like it would be a mistake to get rid of it.

Also did I pay too much for it (2500$)
