Car shuts off randomly

Post by analogkid455 »

My 2000 ssei shuts off some times. It has since I bought it. At first, I thought is was only when I floored it and then let off real quick. But it also does it cruising down the highway. The other day it shut of at a red light. It always fires right back up and runs beautifully. I have done tons of work on the car since I bought it, but nothing has changed this behavior. Where should I look?

Does it seem electronic, like you're shutting off the ignition? Or like its stalling out?

Any codes? First thing that comes to mind is a torque converter staying in lockup

Hmm, hadn't thought of the torque converter but don't think that is it, since it does it some times when I am cruising. I have an EVAP code that comes and goes. Hard to say what it seems like. I thought it was either electrical or fuel related, but I just don't know.

The ICM and MAF sensor are also suspect, especially if they've been replaced with poor quality no name parts.

ICM? The MAF wiring was replaced by me because it wasn't working. It works fine now. The condition has not changed. No more MAF codes.
