You have to go from the top, from inside the car. You can either pull the speaker grills off, or remove the whole back cover.

Re: Replacing rear 6x9 speakers?
I don't know that the grills come off the dash very nicely. Its best to remove the back dash to get to it.
Use a large flat blade screwdriver inserted from the top down behind the seat back. There are 4 clips that need to be pushed down and then the seat back will pop out.
The rear dash comes out after you remove the C-pillars and the 2 push in connectors.

Re: Replacing rear 6x9 speakers?
good info and pics there.
i will add, i was able to replace mine without pulled the rear seat out. You can gain access to the push retainers for the rear deck by simply pulling on the rear seat tops and then pulling the retainers out. Once these are out, you will need to pull the rear side pillars...then i was able to lift the rear deck out and gain access to rear 6X9s.

Very good idea.. I would have never thought of that. Plus, you get to keep the padding to sit on while you work!

Re: Replacing rear 6x9 speakers?
Are these instructions at all similar to pre-00 Bonnevilles? I'm interested in doing the same exchange on my 99. Where did you find these instructions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The 99's are easy to do, dive in the trunk and there you go. Although I can get to mine by removing the speaker grills.

Re: Replacing rear 6x9 speakers? Easy on '97
None of that above crap needed to do this on a 97 Bonn.jpp355 wrote:Are these instructions at all similar to pre-00 Bonnevilles? I'm interested in doing the same exchange on my 99. Where did you find these instructions?

Don't know nuthin' bout no instructions but, on my 97 Bonn SE with deluxe radio and EQ, I simply popped off
the grills (with a plastic pry bar) off the top of the speakers, then its easy. Just 4 little 1/4" hex head screws to remove the speaker.

phils97bonn, it will be helpful to look at the date of posts in the future. You just responded to someone from 17 years ago
