Missing Gas

Hello, I will start off by saying I am clueless with cars. However the other day the car stopped accelerating and the break and AEB lights came on the dash and the car stalled out.

It's a 1998 Pontiac bonneville SE, when we got some one to look at it they said the gas tank was empty however we filled it up completely two days prior and only traveled around 80 miles but they couldn't find a leak any where and the whole time it said we had around half a tank, even after putting $10 it says around half still. Usually $30-35 gets us the full week and gas has been cheaper yet we ran out of gas. Any ideas other then siphoning. The family thinks we just ran out of gas but that is not true we have never had an issue and certainly should not have that issue now with lower gas prices.

Simple test: check for fuel pressure at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Cycle the ignition switch a few times to prime the fuel pump. Remove the black plastic cap and use a small screwdriver to depress the pin. If fuel comes shooting out, you are not out of fuel and your fuel pump is working good.
