Hi (again)! Returning after many years away...

Post by acg_93_ssei »

Greetings all. In a previous life (and I think in one of the predecessor Bonneville forums rather than this one), I was long-time member acg_ssei. I tried to register with that moniker here, but I think the forum might have inherited my old login ID tied to an old employer email address that I no longer have and cannot recover, so... whatever. I'll start over.

I still have my Beloved Bonneville™ SSEi, a 1993 in Bright White that I bought in 1996, now at somewhere around 125K. (It turned 100,000 miles on January 1, 2000, which seemed like a good day for it.) It had not been driven for many years following some major brake and electrical issues, but I resolved a few weeks back to get it back on the road, and have made much progress since then. I'll try to pick up on my technical posts where I left off many years ago.

Welcome back! Glad to see someone getting these old 90s cars back on the road instead of more into the junkyards.

Thanks! I think I recognize a few other names here as well.

Speaking of "many years away," the spouse turned up an old calendar the other day that we had obviously saved as a kind of diary, because when you raise three kids you have a lot of stuff you need to keep track of. This calendar was from 2004. :sadeyz:

Anyway, she pointed out one entry in my handwriting, for Sunday, May 23, 2004: "Bonneville Club: Lake Bluff" (IL). I have some vague recollection of it (and probably took photos, but that was in film days, so God knows where the negatives are now).

I think we either met at a restaurant for lunch, then all drove in a mini-convoy to someplace else, or did it the other way around: met someplace like a parking lot or easy-to-access-from-the-Interstate location, then all drove to the restaurant. Anyway, there was a restaurant, and a convoy. I think we had maybe 10 cars show up. It was fun.
