Transmission hangs for a second and shifts hard

Post by Tannmann36 »

Hello all. I want to start of saying I'm new here. I have a 2001 Bonneville SE and I have been having a problem with my transmission where it will hang for a second and then slam into gear when shifting from first gear to second. I noticed it only happens when the transmission is warmed up and happens at random. I take the same commute to school everyday and sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. I replaced the transmission fluid not even 5,000 miles ago so I don't think that's the problem. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a classic case of Max Adapt Shift. A TransGo shift kit takes care of this often times.

You could check your TPS. I have a GM truck that did that when the TPS was toast. It made it force shift but also the the lock up in torgue converter didnt work either.

I agree with the possibility of a bad TPS, but more likely a P1811 with the TransGo SK4T65E shift kit being the fix. Too bad you just did the fluid because you'll be doing it again.
