CV Axle estimated cost from repair shop

I'm looking at having my left front CV axle replaced. I have a shudder when turning left plus the boot is leaking.

Anyone have experience of cost from a repair shop with parts & labor? I'm trying to figure this out on my own so I don't get scammed. (I can't do this repair on my own time...shop needs to do it)

Any experienced shop should be able to do a CV axle in an hour or less. There are cheap $50-60 axles available, but they are mostly junk that you shouldn't expect to last more than a year. If you plan on keeping the car, get an OEM AC Delco for around $200.
