intense fuel pump and wiring upgrade

Post by alexcoqui »

Im pulling my hair! there are no instructions and it is not plug and play like Ive thought. the pump dosnt match the pump assembly that came out of the tank, and the plugs for the wiring dont match any of the plugs in the car.
Anyone has done this and know where the plugs go to?

At some point GM changed the connector on the fuel pump. I ran into that when I replaced mine a couple years ago. I discovered you can acquire a pump with the "old" connector so it will plug-n-play to your car, or you can get one with the new connector and replace the connector on the car. I did the latter and replaced the connector on the car - the new pump came with a new connector to install on the car. I'm guessing your Intense pump did not come with both ends of the connector and the connector on the pump itself is the new style. If that's the case you're gonna need the end that goes to the car. It's just a minor PITA to change to the new connector.

I can't remember if my new pump looked different than the old pump, but I seem to recall thinking it was a bit different. Worked fine, though.
