Rear shocks?

Post by Louiej99 »

I think I blew out a rear shock. Whenever I hit a bump with the right rear, I can feel the wheel "dribble" and the back end steps out a little bit. No clunking or anything.
I'm gonna climb underneath it tomorrow and see what I can find out.
I have noticed the air ride pump running longer than usual. Could I have lost the air charge in the shock?
None of the local chain stores ha e any replacements in stock. Any advice for an OEM style replacement? Hoping this will be another $100 fix.

I have used the Monroe MA822 rear shocks on all my Bonnevilles.
They go for $70.00 on amazon.
I have had no problems with them.
Some people also use KYB.

I saw the KYB SR4116 for like $100 and they come with the new mounts. And knowing how much of a pain pin end shocks can be, the new mounts make it look like and easy four bolt job.

After replacing a couple of the air shocks and dealing with the lines and leaking, I went and replaced them with the air ride delete shocks that are spring loaded. Monroe makes them, but I believe there are other options as well. Cost around $100 and a super easy job!

Well I pulled the wheel off and the bottom of the shock is all oily so it's blown out. I'll be ordering up a pair of new ones. Just have to try avoiding bumps till then...
