95 Bonneville SE front cradle rust

Post by Bonneville'sRock »

Greetings! Out 95 Bonneville SE has pretty bad rust on drivers side cradle outside bushing.... The cradle is fine and the bushing is fine but over half the body metal the bushing/cradle attaches to is gone from rust. Anyone had any luck repairing this problem short of welding in all new metal?

That subframe/cradle bolts to the frame so cut and weld is the only option I see other than finding another frame.

Yea I got 4 of the 6 sf bushing kits, with new mounts, washers and bolts. New spacers have to be welded into rusted out mounting holes. Worth it if it's the only rusted part on it. Very reliable motors and automobiles. -Merica 1999

Both sides on my car had metal from the body rotting away in that area. The passenger side was very bad to the point where almost the entire corner of the floor was gone. I had to weld new metal in there and pretty much do the entire length along the sides of the floor.
I would recommend checking the floor and rockers if your frame mounting points are going.
