A/C blower fan always on after dead battery jump

Post by jhut33 »

hello all...i have had this same issue with (3) 2000 bonnevilles i have owned...the car will drive and start just fine, then one day, nothing...i hook up jumpers to another car and it starts right up...every time, i notice that the a/c blower fan comes on as soon as i start the car...thing is, i am 100% certain that i shut the a/c fan off on the dash before shutting the car off prior to this happening...is this a known issue? is this possibly an A/C Electric Temperature and Motor Control PROGRAMMER issue?

In my Park Avenue, I have "electronic" manual controls. Essentially the system is just like a manual HVAC system, except it's electronic (save for the fan speed selector). I don't know if this applies to 2000+, but if power is disconnected from the always on feed, the unit defaults to defrost, even if it was off at the time of power loss. If accessory power comes on, but no power to the battery feed, the unit still runs 'defrost', and cannot be switched off with accessory power on.

I would suspect it is an effect, and not the cause, unless you caught it red handed.
