Da Squirrels
So i'm desperate here. my beautiful 2005 SLE has been the attack of a terroristic squirrel or chipmunk. it's chewing off the insulation under the hood and leaving me hickory nut shells. thought at first it was a red squirrel and so I set a live trap and caught it.. I relocated it about 15 miles down the road, however i'm still being vandalized. what can I do? is there something I can spray in the areas to keep it at bay before it ruins all the chewable material under the hood? thoughts?

Re: Da Squirrels
get the hottest pepper you can and grind and add water and boil 5 min - let cool 8 hours - filter through coffee filter and spray/paint all the stuff they chew.
they like your ride man, they chew to make a nest and now hes leaving food....you may have to mesh off the entry points they use. or you can build them a nice house near your car: put nuts in it and some cardboard so they can move in.....lol

Re: Da Squirrels
well there are 2 hickory trees right beside my car port. Hmm hot pepper ya say.. I might look into that. I had thought about dousing the engine and insulations areas with Clorox or Ammonia. I tried dryer sheets already. someone said they cant stand that smell. but maybe this rodent is downy soft. lol.

Re: Da Squirrels
i wouldn't use something like a pepper spray, because you're going to smell.. if you want something undetectable and natural - opt for a literal hot pepper you can buy from the grocery store, like ghost, and cut/smear that. wear gloves!

Re: Da Squirrels
These should do the trick...

The bigger "rat traps", not the smaller mouse traps.
Just be sure to put them where innocent animals and family pets won't roam.
At my old house, I have mouse snap-traps set up in the basement and last summer, something kept setting them off, but not actually catching them. 1 time maybe they get lucky but after several times it became clear that it was probably something bigger. Then sure as poop, one day, I'm mowing on the tractor and I saw it... A bastage chipmunk make a run for the foundation wall (which I subsequently sealed too), but after setting that bigger trap set above, problem was solved.
