Cold air intake choices.

Post by Sether »

Hello, this is my first post after lurking here for quite some time. Great place to find out info and that's exactly what I need. So I've been modifying my 2000 Bonneville SSEi and my next thing to do is a Cold air intake. Now I'm just not sure on what to get exactly. I've seen a few and they are just ridiculously expensive and Im not looking to shell out close to 300$ for one. On Intense Racing they have just the air intake tubing by the foot and filters to fit them, very cheap alternative and it can be hose clamped to the rubber hose that connects the TB to the air box which is nice because the O2 sensor doesn't have to be moved. It works great I've heard and is extremely cheap which is nice but It doesn't look great. I've seen some beefy metal tubed CAI's with big nice looking filters and I've searched for them but cannot find any that fit. I'd much rather find one that fits and looks good when I open the hood. Let me know any recommendations you guy's have and I would love some pictures of you're guys setups. Any links to CAIs would be very appreciated.

Made my own with tubing from Autozone. Note that the only filter option which increases power is a fenderwell CAI. A WAI (filter mounted in hood ) reduces the car's output under high heat conditions.

I'd love to see a picture. Ive read alot last night about CAIs lastnight on this forum and i have seen a pictire lf someone buying tubing and puting thd filter in the fender just like what youve done and it looked alright. A user even suggested this very nice metal painted CAI that runs from TB to the spot the stock air box draws air from and its filter is in there. (I assume thays where yours lives) that one is only 200$. So now im stuck. Buy the one for alot less money or have something really nice looking under the hood.

Fender Well intake is a popular choice though it is quite pricey.
