just did the UIM/LIM and car is running like crap
So I just completed the upper intake manifold replacement along with the lower intake manifold replacement. Now when I start my car the engine runs a little rough and it just dies. Any ideas as to what it may be. I checked all connectors and vacuum lines and everything appears to be fine. I have tried so many things. Last night it drove fine, I took it for a ride around the block, but there was leaking coming from the serpentine belt tension elbow so I took off the alternator and the tensioner to replace the back elbow and the leaking stopped. But as soon as I fired it up after that the car ran very rough and unless I give it gas it just dies. I am desperate to figure out what happened and I'm thinking I have to take it to a shop now which I dont want to do. Thanks for any and all help.

You're going to have to recheck everything you removed.
Since it ran OK around the block, make sure the alternator wires are all seated or tight.
It can be something as simple as a connector accidentally left unplugged.
Make sure you reconnected all the ground wires--especially the ones by the coils and that every electrical connector is connected/seated.
The nipple or the electrical connector on the MAP sensor has been known to break off, so look there, too.
Make sure each of the spark plug wires is connected to the right cylinder.
If you have a scan tool or can borrow one--that may offer a clue.
If there aren't any codes, then you can try disconnecting the battery leads for a few minutes.
Hopefully, you find the issue quickly.

Alright I found the issue, the upper intake manifold on the pcv valve. The part that locks the spring down and have to screw it on with a 16mm socket. Well like an idiot I forgot to put a gasket on that to seal it. As soon as I did that the car ran perfectly. Thanks for the quick response MkMike I was going to be doing everything you listed, but finally figured it out, FINALLY! Now what to do with the extra money that doesn't have to go to Midas.

You wouldn't be the first to make that mistake.presstdt589 wrote:Alright I found the issue, the upper intake manifold on the pcv valve. Thanks for letting us know what was wrong.
Enjoy your ride and the extra cash.
