Radiator fans stopped working

Post by twistedkeys »

I tried researching this here and on google but I couldn't find anything...

On my '01 i've been having overheating problems here and there relating to a bad water pump, too little coolant, too little oil, etc. I've gotten to the point where I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator, fans, and the condenser(?), and I'm about to do a coolant flush today.

With all of that though, the fans will NOT turn on. The car has been easily between 200-240* for the past month, and there's no sign of the fans... any ideas?

hi, did you check the fuse and relays for the fans?

also, if you unplug the coolant temp sender under thermostat housing, the fans should trip on as fail-safe

I seem to be a little lost. I assume my fuse box will tell me which relays/fuses are for the fans. But I'm unsure of any electrical plugs near the thermostat

underneath the thermostat is the coolant temperature plug. If you unplug it, the electric fans should turn on automatically by default. If they do not, then you need to find out why. You should be getting 12v at the fan with the coolant sensor unplugged. If the A/C works, turning that on MAX should have the same effect.
A temporary fix does not exist. It becomes a solution until it needs to be fixed again.

Thank you I'll look at this!

Seemed like the fans were working, and then the heater hose elbows went out, so I replaced those, did a flush and now it seems the car is running great!
