hi, If yours is like my 96, I would check the blower resistor that is located under the maxi-fuse centre on pass side - there is a small door held by 2 or 3 screws - mine had burnt contacts
I cleaned up the leads to resistor and never had another issue - easy to check if whacking is to no avail.
