2001 X5 4.4 AWD. 150,000 miles, zero rust! Drove it home for $1,200 supposed transmission problem but I believe it to be a failing alternator causing the trans failsafe limp issue, time will tell. It's dirty right now, haven't even touched it yet :lol:

Originally bought as a flip but now very seriously considering keeping it and selling the 540i. This thing is just so crazy clean I hate to let it go and then still have the 540i with the minor rust issues and paint problems. About the only flaws with this other then normal paint chips and stuff for a 150k mile car is the front door panels were removed at some point and the clips broke so they used some screws to hold it in place but they are in inconspicuous areas so no big deal. That and the drivers seat is worn but still OK.

Had some time yesterday to check some things out, initially I was confident the problem was going to be just electrical but now I am leaning towards a failure of the "A" clutch which is fairly common, but once you get the trans out if everything else is good it's only about $150. More updates will follow!

Nice! If you can get that thing running for $1500 or less it'd be hard not to keep it.

Excited to see you get that thing running..

Maybe sell both the X5 when you're done and the 540i and try and find a cleaner 540i? You already have the Acadia to do SUV duty.
