An unusual situation, I need advice ASAP

Post by bonnechuck »

2000 Bonne SE is sitting under a very heavy tree limb which is resting the roof of my house since 5 PM this afternoon (Sat the 14th). I have not moved it in the last year and a half and had to jump it to be able to release gear selector. Gear selector is stuck will not move, and I have tree service coming tomorrow. Any ideas on how to make it move? Harofreak and others have supplied great info over the years and I appreciate them and all the contributors to the board. Why I have not had it running for so long is a story I won't bore you with. Any idea to free up the selector will be appreciated. Thanks and a good night from Pittsburgh, PA.

hi, if you can insert key and the dash lights up, you should be able to select gear. if you cant, I would pop hood and look directly below master cylinder of brake system- the linkage you see connects to tranny and should move to selected gear
if it dont shift by drive selector, keep key in on position and try to mannually move the linkage to newt and if you are on an incline, the car will roll.if you have a good tree service, they will remove the limb and you wont have to move the car for them.

As stated above, disconnect the gear selector from the top of the transmission. You can then manually rotate the selector by hand.

hi, if you have a trolly jack, you could jack up the front and pull her out of the way - need flat ground or incline in the
direction of travel

you sure yo got p= brake off?

If you moved the shift lever on the trans, and it still won't roll, it sounds like the brake pads may be rusted to the rotors
