Looks like its time to let go of the Bonneville

Looks like its time to let go of the Bonneville

Post by DCJREDLINE »

2002 SE with 193k on it. The final straw just happened the other day out of the blue.

I came out of work to find the windshield started cracking...I'm sure this is because of the "frame" rail under the car right behind the drivers front tire is rotted out.

That in itself isn't a deal breaker but the heat also barely works when the revs aren't up (I have filled the rad and there is no leak), it is being very sluggish lately uphill and when in high gear and going slow, gas mileage has gone down from 26 to 21, lastly the transmission has been having trouble going into gear from park and at WOT it wont shift then sets a CEL (I haven't ever scanned to see what the code is just because I dont normally use WOT). Fluid is full and smells fine.

It has served me well for the last 5 years and 100k miles!!!!!!!!! I bought a 2004 Saturn Quadcoupe with 84k on it in October knowing this day was coming. I will hang around here still and participate where I can cause this is such a great place. :hail: :hail:

Is anyone in Upstate NY and want a CHEAP CHEAP Bonne with high miles on it for parts?

That's a sad realization, but every car eventually has to go. It sounds like it has served you well.
I'm Jon. I'm completely stock, no mods.

Sold/dead, but not forgotten: 1989 Bonneville LE "Bonnie, the Sport Utility Car" STB from '92-'99 Bonnie, Delco (Type II) Ignition system

Sorry to hear about your bonne, but the scavenger in me is starting to crawl out. I know you want to sell the car whole but I was wondering what the condition of your taillights and trunk reflector was in and if you'd be willing to sell them?

I dont have the proper area to keep the car while parting it out. The town would be down my neck about that...what I can do is keep those when the time comes to send it to the crusher and let you know

As horrible as that sounds, it sounds like a plan bud.

Do stick around Don... I still have my bonnevilles, but I know one of these days I will have to let go.. My van is getting to be that way as well.. They don't have the body rot being FL cars, but the miles have taken their toll..

I would love to have that Formula tho...lol
