Rear suspension compressor not coming on

Rear struts were leaking bad and causing the compressor to run far too often. I pulled the relay to the compressor until I could find time to replace the struts. After replacing them, I put the relay back in and now the compressor never comes on.

I used my handy dandy tech 2 clone to "force" the pump on and it still wouldn't fire up. In the body codes I found this error: "C0660 Level Control Exaust Valve Circuit Malfunction" .

Not finding any info on the forums for this code. Has anybody ever seen this code before? Any clue as to what went wrong since I pulled the relay?

I assume you already checked the fuse. If so then you should check ground with ignition on engine off at the exhaust solenoid valve. If you have ground check for power connect a test light between the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve. use your scan tool to turn the exhaust valve on and off your test light should turn on and off.

If all else fails, Andrew (Bonnevilles Unlimited) does sell replacement compressors. It's not the first time we've seen one fail.

mine failed before for the same reason, I would at least hear it click occasionally so knew there was power to it. you can also get a junkyard one from a Bonneville, Lesaber or Cadillac deville.

I'm assuming that the level control exhaust valve that the code is referring to is on the compressor? Will I need to remove the compressor to get to it? If I remember right, this compressor is in a different place than the '98

rear passenger side, its direcly behind the rear splash shield behind the bumper cover. best idea is lift the car or remove the back bumper cover
