97' Bonneville Steering Wheel Control

I have a 97' Bonneville with Cd/Equalizer Radio with steering wheel controls. A few questions I had regarding this is

1) if the illumination goes out on the actual button, is that something that can easily be replaced/bought; and if so does it require removing the steering wheel to do so?

2) The mute button works but then after 2-3 seconds the volume returns to normal without touching the button. Button failing?

hi, I don't believe the wheel has to be removed.... there is a post explaining the procedure but I cant find it with search........hang in there and something will come up

The switches just pry out. I never tried to replace the bulb, I just grabbed new ones from the junkyard. It's kind of tricky to get them plugged back in though.
