Shutting off in reverse/ chugging
Just in the past few days after I replaced the battery my car it started doing this slight chugging deal where it makes a little squeaking noise then shuts off and it's mostly in reverse. I've replaced the battery, fuel pump, mass air flow sensor & spark plugs. I don't understand. The vacuum hose was loose at one point so I put a zip tie on it because it was causing the chugging and it wasn't staying on at all. That problem went away a while back and now I'm totally confused. I checked to make sure the hose was still in place and it was fine.

A fast, easy thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator. There should be no liquid fuel in it's vacuum suply hose.

Re: Shutting off in reverse/ chugging
I am having the same issue and it only got worse, the oil pressure would drop when ever I was idle. I finally decided to park my car until I have enough money to rebuild the engine. I am hoping the issue will reveal its self during the process. I will then be able to post what the cause was.

Not trying to thread Jack but I am having the same exact issue have checked all my lines all my sensors all of my vacuum hoses show pressure regulator fuel pressure has been tested and no air leaks from any vacuum lines and I still have not discovered the issue if during your rebuild you find your issue please let us know
Never getting rid of my Bonnie
