Door logo projector
Door logo projector
hi!
I me new on here and have a couple of questions. I have a 2005 bonneville gxp (amazing car) and have ordered these http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... ID=EBAY-US door logo projectors.
I get the just of installing them but have firing question. As the bonneville doesn't have door lights what wire would I have to tap into for Power? So that when the door is open and closed the projector turn on and off.
Any help would be great! If figured out I'll post photos with step by step with what I did
Thanks! Keep these amazing cars alive!

Re: Door logo projector
There is no wire that exists in the doors that will function the way you want. The only exception is the 2000 model year Bonneville. GM discontinued door panel courtesy lamps for 2001+ and wiring does not exist in the updated harnesses to connect them. I added them to mine and they work in the same manner as the 2000 model year, also in the manner you require. In the photos below, it looks like the red reflector is also illuminated but that was only because of the camera flash.
When I added mine it was necessary to add wiring to the door panel wiring harness, door wiring harness and main body wiring harness. They connect to a splice pack (a type of junction block) under the rear seat near the fuse box. Without this you won't be successful in achieving what you want. I had done a write-up on another forum but it's never been posted here.

Thank you! So what wire do I connect to under the rear seat and where did you run your wire?
Re: Door logo projector
Also if you could please refer me to the original post if you think it would be helpful?

Re: Door logo projector
I can re-post the write-up on the weekend. I had a strong disagreement with one of the admins on "another" forum about using poor judgement in publicly supporting street racing (which I am adamantly opposed to) and was ultimately banned. As a result, the write-up is there but the numerous associated photos have been removed. For this reason, it's of little benefit. There's a lot of good information (lengths of all the wires you need, connectors, terminals, etc.) so I'll try and get that back up here in its complete form. At one point I built an installation kit for someone that included all the wiring with correct terminals crimped on so all the existing factory connectors can be used.
As far as where to tie in, the last photo I posted above is the splice pack you want. Both the blue wire w/white stripe and the gray wire go to each bulb. The splice pack is taped up in the harness near the fuse block. There are two so feel in the harness for the rectangular block and carefully cut the tape to expose it.

Re: Door logo projector
I wasn't really planning to do this tonight, but...
Adding Door Panel Courtesy Lighting - 2001+ Bonneville
If you're going to add wiring for the logo projectors, you may as well add the door panel courtesy lamps at the same time.

Thanks. I knew I built one but couldn't recall who it was for.
