Is my SE really an SLE?

Post by MKMike »

It is badged SE but the spare tire cover indicates H4U .
Does this mean it is actually an SLE or is it just an SE with SLE options?

Either 96+ or 00+ were the only years to actually badge the cars as an SLE. Before then it was just a package.

95naSTA, thanks!
I had no idea they weren't badged as such prior to certain years.

The SLE option package is a strange mix.. 93-96 had the SLE option without the badges or trim kit.. 95-97 SLE package also allowed you to check off the L67 box..lol

98+ were the only ones badged as SLE, 93-97 had no SLE badges, 93-95 SLE's always looked different then the SE because 93 SLE had the different grill than the SE and 94/95 SLE had the blacked out chrome trim. On the other hand a 96/97 SLE looks no different from a 96/97 SE on the exterior.

For a 93 to be an SLE, it will have the floor shift, leather seats, and the crosslace wheels.

It does.
I greatly appreciate all the replies.
I had thought this was just a very nicely optioned SE, so I'm pleasantly surprised to find that it's actually an SLE.
Redmetrix, your explanation let me know why I've had a tough time finding the right grille for my car.
None of the SE grilles matched.
