snout bearings going bad

Post by justoyz2 »

I am getting vibrations when accelerating or revving the engine when the car is
in park. At cruising speeds the care is fine. I just installed a new ac compressor and
power steering pump. The noise subsided a lil; but the vibration returned.
I am thinking its coming from the super charger pulley.
Info:
-176K miles
-rebuilt transmission
-new compressor
-new power steering pump

Thinking of installing a new pulley bearing; do you all think it will make a difference or
not?

If it's a chattery\grindy kind of noise it could just be your coupler. They are made of plastic and the holes they have in them go egg shaped after a while. You will need a kit to fix it that should have the coupler, super charger oil, and anaerobic gasket maker. Use the search feature here on this site for more info.

If you take the belt off the pulley and use your hands to spin it left and right with quick stops, you will feel the slop\clunk if the coupler is bad. Good luck.
