P Code 1676

Post by ShaneC »

So, i just got the 98 se (Midnight Magic-MM) back from the shop on friday. original engine went bad and i was able to pick up a used one with only 136k on it from a local AAA yard. MM has run for just under 180 miles since i got him back friday morning. on the way home from work today my check engine light came on :banghead: , so, when i got home home i pluged in the code reader and got said P Code (1676) :eek2: looking online i was able to find that it has somthing to do with the EVAP and a selondoind of some kind. all of that is way over my head lol :btruestory: i was wondering if anyone on here had first hand knowledge with this problem and a SIMPLE step by step to get it fixed? if not at least some lead on where i could look to get an idea of it. i would be very greatful for any help in this matter. Thanks :)

EVAP CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE CONTROL is on the engine near the coils and has 2 vacuum lines going to it.
Make sure the vacuum lines aren't disconnected or cracked. Check that the wires , the electrical connector and all the pins it plugs onto are in good condition.
If these things are OK, then replace it.
You can get a replacement for around $30
