One of the coild packs on my 1999 w/3800 eng went bad ( went through the diagnostics to make sure,, then swapped it with a borrowed coil pack from a friends car to confirm the problem . I purchased a new BWD 51P coil pack at a local auto parts store an installed it . I tried to start the engine and it seemed like it fired of a less than a full second then quit. Now, there is no spark (I wend through the ICM diagnostics using voltmeter, led, etc and have determined that the ICM is now bad. I am thinking that I got a defective coil pack ( primary is shorted) and it killed the ICM . I will check the primary secondary coil pack resistance with an ohmmeter next (what resistance to look for ? ).
Anyway, is it possible that a shorted coil pack can kill the ICM ? - Thanks
Replacement coil pack damaged the ICM ?
