gas mileage?

Post by jddem »

This winter is killing my gas mileage.
I don't drive too much to begin with, and mostly in town 35mph stop and go.
But with all the warming up of the car due to the weather I'm getting 13.8-14.0 mpg

How about the rest of you?

She's got 60K and a fresh tune up (new plugs/ wires/ filters)
I reset the OBC.
I may have 300 miles on it since, so I still see it change as I drive or let it warm up. lol

I know mine is an L36, so it should be slightly higher than the L67, but in the cold around town I average about 16 roughly, maybe slightly more with a light foot, and about 13mpg with how I drive lol. Highway I average about 28 with a light foot, and about 24 with spirited driving. For the cold weather and mostly city driving, that sounds about right. My dad's PAU only gets right at 14 in town in the winter.

I pull right around 16-17 mpg on average in the winter. I have remote start and warm it up 8 minutes everyday before leaving work. The car is parked in a garage at night though. About 50/50 city and highway driving. With the stop and go traffic it may as well be considered mostly city driving.

If I don't idle a lot and miss the really bad Chicago traffic, I get 17-18.

If I idle a lot/it's cold as balls/traffic gets me, it dips right down to 14-15.

I live about a block from work so if I don't go anywhere farther than that right now I'm in the 12-14 range. It has a little to do with my heavy right foot and a lot to do with idling to warm up and in drive thrus.

It still gets good mileage on the highway, but I seriously think my truck with a 5.3 may do better around town... I haven't really checked though, no DIC in the truck.

DIC isn't really reliable, although it's also known to be optimistic.

Also remember, up here in the great white north, there is a different blend for winter that isn't as efficient as a spring/summer/fall version.

Yeah, the winter blend kills my already rich running engine.

I have a 26 mile commute to work, and I usually have to fill up every 6-7 days (depends on how much driving I do on the weekend). I don't know my individual town and highway mileage, but this time of the year, at each fuel up I average 18-19.

My car says my average between city, highway, and daily remote start that its about 15 to 16.5 mpgs. Which is pretty close because I get to about 200 miles and my gas gage is nearing the 1/4 full mark. It sucks filling up weekly, lol.
