Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I got a headache from a turbo Bonneville.

Fun aside, I have been working with a company that we 3800 nuts know well in the aftermarket world, I bought a canned 'base-tune' to run my Bonneville off of. It is nowhere near correct. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with what it takes to correct their mistake or if anyone is familiar with setting up a base-map for a turbo L36. I am using a Garrett GT3582R, LQ4 85mm Maf in factory housing, Siemens Deka 60's and running a mix of 50% e85, 50% 93 on the dot.

If this is the wrong area, please let me know. Any insight is appreciated, if any more details are needed I can provide them.

Not sure if this is helpful at all, but if you're tuning with HPT, the tune repository has dozens of bin files with turbo vehicles from mild to wild, and blower cars as well.

Are you getting KR? Do you have a wideband? I see that you have upgraded the injectors, 60s should be fine with the corn mixture. But did you do any fuel pump upgrades?

Also, if the company is ZZP, I know their tunes aren't exactly loved by the 3800 community.

I've been playing around with the maps that are on the repository. Bits and pieces from various ones compiling a reference in excel so I can log, compare, tune, rinse & repeat. It is getting there. I started with a stock file's tables, binning the tune I bought... though I did note, combining stock and the canned tune did make a bit of difference where it counts. I have quelled KR down to 1 degree in only one cell in my histogram, 4800 rpm and under a bit of boost (.68 g/cyl). Soon it will be time for a dyno run...

OK so I've done a whole bunch of tuning over the past week or so, and arrived on a pretty solid street tune netting me a 6 second 0-60 with 2.86 final drive and 3630 weight. At 5 lbs of boost. Running a pretty smooth timing table up top with 18 peak wot an an innovate mtx-l wide-band afr of 12. (lambda reading not converted to e85 stoic yet). I don't know what numbers are hitting the ground but with 1 degree of kr at turbo spool (normal I hear) it pulls like a freight train. Wheel spin has become a problem on plain dry pavement and traction control only feeds the turbo with load. 23 mpg I might add too.

Spool knock is nothing to fear. Based on the timing and AFR, I say you got yourself a solid tune.

Your set up is unintercooled yes? Got any vids for us?

You're making me wish I never sold my CT kit.... Hahahaha

No videos yet, it's dark every time I drive. I'll get a couple this weekend. Have to make a trip to buffalo to pick up some wheels for my speed6. This car is still the most pleasant thing I have ever had the opportunity to mod and drive. Ticked over 200k last night... the body is beginning to show it. this motor/turbo setup and all the other mods (b&m quicksilver, gauge pods) may have to migrate to a new shell.

You have a turbo Bonneville AND a Speed6?? You lucky bastard. That's like a dream combo for me.

The speed6 is a bitch. I have a 2006 mica black GT. Pretty much everything you can bolt on besides a bigger turbo, 21 psi and 345 hp on e85... Semi slicks and solid mounts for anything but the driver's ass. I still would drive a Bonneville any day. But the mazda is fun for what it is. I dare say my bonnie gets much better mileage.
