2001 SSEi Goodbye THANK YOU BF users!
I wanted to say thank you to all that have put the time and effort into helping me out over the last few years here on the forum with our 01 SSEi for the multitude of issues we have experienced. It’s been sold for $950 CDN, thank you baby Jesus. We will not miss it in the least. Including the POS 81 Dodge Challenger (not the muscle car version) and the 86 Chrysler New Yorker Turbo winter beaters I owned as a teen, this has been hands down the worse car I have ever owned and I am happy beyond words I will no longer have to sift through this forum to solve problems great and small. Decided to stray away from North American and got my wife a used “old man” 09 Venza so off to enjoy its reliability. The two previous Pontiac's I owned (86 305 4bbl Trans-Am and 95 Sunfire both cost me less than $1000 to maintain in 9 years of ownership hence the reason we bought this 01 Pontiac SSEi. All good things come to an end I guess. I DO appreciate the good people of this Forum though, thank you all so much for the assistance and your time. Have a great fall/winter.

sad to see you go. hope you have "good luck" with your "new ride". I'll have to admit that I'm a GM/Pontiac man though. My wife's siblings that have gone Asian swear by them even though they've had much more trouble with their "cars" than I've had with my Bonneville(s), including their "new" engines. My '92 has 305K+ and failed only because like an idiot I took it to a "mechanic". Don't forget us. "Drop in" once in a while just to let us know how things are. - BC

Thank you "1oldman". Agreed. That was precisely the reason we stuck with Pontiac. 6 weeks into ownership a bad taste was forming. One that left me never wanting to buy a car with over 100K ever again (124,000km/77,000mi when we bought). 3 months later Transmission goes and it was all downhill with probs from there incl the infamous Lower Intake Mani gasket, cabin and trunk leaks, electrical gremlins like you would not believe, busted regulators the whole ball of wax. I guess I just got tired of the dealing with something new every other month. It served us well enough for 9 years I guess but needed tires, battery, another mani and valve cover job, had a half dozen little problems incl a whole the size of a softball under the gas door, 2 larger dents in front quarter from idiots in parking lots and AC slowly leaked out every 3 months. It was a small miracle I got $950 for it. She was UGLY BETTY indeed. I was all GM as well, but car manufacturers have no loyalty to customers, likewise I have none to any particular brand now. I realize most labour on imports and the parts are usually more but am hoping those parts are needed far less and with the help of a buddy or two should come out ahead in the end. Bought the Venza for $14K from my uncle (dealer trade in price they were going to give him) with 100K. Same options, year and mileage was selling for $17,500-$18900 at dealers here so was happy with the price. Not as exciting but nice to drive something that feels solid, smooth, quiet, comfortable, better mileage and has lots of utility and room with all the options. My wife needed a crossover or the like that sat higher for her bad knee anyway. Happy wife happy life. TAKE CARE!

Thanks!
and like I said, drop in from time to time. - BC
is why I bought the '05 I have. We've put 16k miles on it since the 3rd week in August 2013. All the work that has been done on it is PM. Had a shift kit put in that I hope gives me 150K more miles of life to it. Yes, absolutely, happy wife, happy life. The wife loves driving my "new' 2005 SE.billc wrote:nice to drive something that feels solid, smooth, quiet, comfortable, better mileage and has lots of utility and room with all the options.
