Current Issues in my Bonneville

Post by fanchero »

So I recently introduced myself. I've been reading posts on here for about a year and seem to have found most guides to all I need minus a few things. Here is my list of issues with my 2001 Bonneville:

1) Front Driver and Passenger side windows quit working (dang shame in Florida too - especially right now!) Ordered the parts for a grand total of $120. Attempting install this weekend - try to add pictures. :bwoohoo:

2) Headlight plastic broken by rock on road :banghead: - gonna drop by the pick n pull this weekend see about getting new one. -ON A SIDE NOTE QUESTION- should I replace both or just one at the time? (also - saw a 2000 bonneville at the pick and pull that looked in good shape - will the parts/lights work in my 2001?)

3) Black exterior flashing up by window peeling and cracking. Thinking of picking up new strip at junkyard? Had read on here that I can replace with 3M tape? Thoughts?

4) AC unit not working in cabin. I can hear the unit try and come on in the engine, the display shows it on in my car but no joy coming into the car (no fan sounding) just clicking in the engine? Ideas?

5) Gas Gauge all over the place. Need to fix/replace. Saw guide here on site. Attempting that when I get some more time and $.

6) Headliner - replaced with some felt - looks like garbage. Thinking I'm going to get it replaced professionally.

Any suggestions/pointers for me as I attempt these projects will be greatly appreciated! I just passed 230K the other day. It is my daily driver 88 miles to and from work! Thanks for your time folks! Look forward to the challenges!

The headlights are the same. You can polish headlight plastic to make it look clear. Check t refrigerant levels in the AC system to see if it is full and if not get a leak test done.

Easy/Cheap fix here. I had to do this on 3 different 00+ SSEis I had. I made a guide back several years back on how to do it: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... pic456.htm, also a youtube how-to on it I made in 08, not sure on the current part numbers but here is the process:

Thanks for the help on the fuel gauge! That is my next project. Successfully replaced both the front controllers / motors on the windows. Took approx 2 and a half hours. Going to junk yard again for replacement window trim. Really want to fix AC/Heat, any guides/thoughts on where to start? How can I check refrigerant levels?(newbie here :-)
