2001 Bonneville SSEi engine shake

Post by camoman733 »

Hey I am new to this but my family has had a 2001 ssei for 10 years and now that I turned 16 its mine. The car has 260k mile and the 2nd engine has 160k miles. I went to subway today after a drive with some friends and when I came back out I went to start it and after it started it shook really bad and had a rough idle. I shut it off and turned it back on and it was fine the whole way home. I parked it to let it cool down and later I started it again and noticed the "service vehicle soon" message came up on the information screen, while it shook the same way. after it would run for a while it would be fixed and it sounded fine but it could not get more than 5 pounds of boost. I am pretty sure it is not misfiring but I could be wrong. I know we have driven it more than taken care of it and the oil needs to be changed and we have never changed the supercharger fluid. Please help! its the car I love

Mine did something similar the other day, where it shook violently during idle/park, and took forever to get any acceleration. I changed a coil pack, because it was not sparking, then two weeks later, had to change the ICM, which was causing the non-spark.

Is the CEL flashing?

Do you have a scan tool to hook up to it? Or you can bring it to autozone/o'rielly and they will scan it for you.

You need to have the code read to see what is going on. Sounds like a misfire to me.

The CEL is not flashing but I read the codes and there wasn't anything to do with the way it ran. I checked the BTS valve for the supercharger and everything seems to be working as it should.
