first time bonnie owner maintanence oppinions ?

Post by ballen4218 »

alright guys im new to the board
new to pontiacs
new to 3800
i was raised around 350s i can pull disassemble and reassemble one with my eyes closed
but these 38s are a whole new world to me
i bout a 02 se last month for 500 dollars from a friends mom
she has loved this car to pieces had every srvice done etc etc
then he got it
he didnt love her so much
i guess what im asking is just your oppinions
you buy a 02 se with 175 k on it
and honestly your friend cant tell ya what maintanence "if there is any"
that hes done or had done on it for the last 3 years
if you had purchased this vehicle what are the mandatory things youd want replaced beofre making her your everyday driver
so far my list
is
plugs plug wire
upper and lower intake seal
valve covers and brakes
are the 38 prone to anything i need to look for ?
have any special needs when they reach high mileage ?
sorry for the essay like post just wanted to give all the info i can
i appreciate any feedback you guys have
thanks in advance

Welcome!!
Check the cooling system. It probably needs flushing badly before and after LIM gasket replacement and replace the plenum. The EGR tube fails in the plenum. Look in the TECHINFO part of the forum under:

There is more, but I don't recall at the moment. Hopefully someone else will chime in. - BC
