I've found a 93 Bonneville that is everything I've been looking for except it does not have steering wheel controls. I'm thinking the steering column does not have the wiring in it for the controls and if I wanted to add them I would probably be looking at getting a whole steering column?
Just wondering if this would be more hassle than it is worth to add the controls.

You don't need a new steering column if you use a clockspring from a car with the controls. It has the wiring for the controls and the airbag.

The steering wheel controls are just 2 wires running to the buttons and each button has a different resistance. But your factory head unit may not be set up to use the steering wheel controls so that may have to be replaced as well. You will need the correct steering wheel and have to do some dash wiring. A factory shop manual with schematics is a must. I am not as familiar with the 93 but if it also has climate controls, it is likely you will not be able to get them to work unless it has the electronic climate control That is something you cannot add to an SE without major work.

The car does not have electronic climate control. That's great if the column is already wired for the controls, that was my main concern. I can handle changing the clockspring and steering wheel. Did the clock spring change at all from 92-99?
I have a different 93 stock head unit to swap in that is compatible with the controls.
Now, I know where the steering wheel controls plug in on the stock head unit. I am not clear on how that wire(s) actually gets to the radio or where exactly it comes from, that's probably where the fsm comes in to play. I know plenty of 93's without electronic climate control came with steering wheel controls to I do not believe that should be an issue.
