Brake Pulse

Post by 97ParkAve »

Good Afternoon guys,
I seem to be having a constant problem with my 1997 Park Ave, I replaced the front brake pads and rotors about a year ago at the GM dealer and kept getting a slight wobbling feeling when I came to a stop. I then replaced the rear pads and rotors as I figured that would help, it didn't. I had the brakes flushed and replaced the fluid with DOT 4 at the dealer still didn't help. I just recently replaced the front rotors with the NAPA brand severe duty rotors and just regular NAPA brand pads. It now pulses so bad (it moves the steering wheel back and forth) when coming to a stop especially from any speed 50+. I am going to replace the two front calipers this weekend and fix the rotors to see if that helps. If anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions let me know. This pulsing brake issue is driving me crazy.
Thanks-

When you replaced the rotor, did you make sure that the face of the wheel hub was as free of rust and buildup as you can get it? Buildup can cause the same symptom as a warped rotor.

Yes, actually the most recent time I did the rotors I replaced both wheel hubs. However I did find the problem this afternoon. The drivers side caliper appeared to functioning correctly on the vehicle but once removed noticed it still was holding some pressure and was warping the rotors.
