98 or 99 Olds Intrigue W/Autobahn Package 3.8L

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

98 or 99 Olds Intrigue W/Autobahn Package 3.8L

Post by 89OldsRocket »

Anyone have one of these that they can comment on with regards to reliability and ride stiffness? I'm looking for a 3.8 ONLY powered Intrigue and would like one with the Autobahn package, hoping it has stiffer suspension in addition to the better gearing and sound system.

My Intrigue is the 3.5L GX (totally not what youre looking for), but Ive looked into the autobahn package a little bit and the suspension is not different. It has bigger front brakes (same as Bonneville SSEi, which I switched to using the brackets from my Bonneville and simply ordered SSEi rotors), 3.29 gears, 128mph speed limiter, and H rated tires were stock.

For suspension, there are TONS of options, since its just a grand prix. I have Eibach sport lowering springs, a GMPP rear sway bar and KYB AGX adjustable struts and quite honestly the car is a blast. The 3.5l has more power than the 3.8 stock and it really screams, shifting at 6600rpm. Obviously a 3.8 would be more moddable, but stock the 3.5 is pretty peppy.

Mine has 198k right now and ive been beating the snot out of it for a few years, pulling my race bike to the track and generally railing the car on a daily basis. For a W body, it seems to be holding up quite well.

Good to know about the suspension, I will be lowering it with Canuck Motorsport springs.

The Shortstar is a powerful motor but I've always loved the 3.8l so am looking for a 98/99 with that engine and no sunroof. I love the look of the OSV Intrigues and am looking to copy that look with the lowering and similar wheels at least, maybe a custom bodykit mod to it as well down the line.

Does the Autobahn package come with special badging to identify it?
