HVAC System Frustration

Post by Typanis »

I've been having a problem with the HVAC system in my 2001 SSEi for a while.
The problem started with it only blowing air out of the dash vents and not being able to change to any of the other modes.
Changed the mode actuator, and during the process I dropped the socket and 1 of the attaching screws and they just disappeared somewhere under there. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... =post&f=18# Once that was done, it would only blow out of the defroster vents to the windshield, and even when the system was off I could hear something under there making noise like something was trying to move.
Since then, I finally replaced the valve cover gaskets and in that process I disconnected the battery to remove the alternator to make getting the valve cover off and on easier. Ever since then it still only blows out of the windshield defroster vents but now it only blows cold and I can no longer change from outside air to recirc (I don't hear the door motor operating)
What have I done????http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... =post&f=18#

Start by looking to see if the actuators are moving as you change the mode and the temperature. If they are, you may not have lined the actuators up properly with the positions on the doors. You'll have to take them back off and re-align them.
