Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Post by Loopy »

I saw an earlier topic of someone having the exact same problem as I'm having with my oil pressure bumping from zero to normal back to zero randomly. I'm assuming it's the sending unit. My question is where the heck is it located and how much is the unit. I also have noticed a small amount of oil leaking from somewhere. Haven't located exactly where, but it is minimal....so far. Oil level is fine right now as well.

It is directly above the oil filter and a new one is around $40.

Usually when oil pressure sending units fail, they register maximum resistance.

Usually yes, but they can fail both ways.

Bet you saw my earlier posting. I've only had the problem crop up once since winter started - same thing, Oil pressure gauge dropping to zero. I stop and restart engine - viola, oil pressure is back.
