Trunk leak with a twist?

I know this has been covered but without sifting can someone point me to the definitive Trunk Leak article please? Not only has my trunk leaked for years but when I removed my rear seat to boost my battery directly a couple weeks ago I noticed the sound proofing/insulating grey foam behind the rear seat back was frozen solid on the bottom edges that overhang out the bottom of the seat back a bit. I cut it out as it was frozen to the seat bottom preventing me from lifting the seat to boost the batt, then a week later have noticed a frozen patch of water in lower lying areas in front of the fuse box and pooling in the area the insulated wrapped wiring goes through close to the fuse box. The foam is NOT wet or frozen further up the back of the rear seat nor is the rear deck by the speakers wet in the least. The seat back itself is always dry. Foot wells are all dry. So far no weird electrical anomalies. The water in the trunk never seems to come from around the trunk lid "valley" and all the rubber is in perfect shape. I've read about the sunroof drainage tubing coming apart but that's not the reason for trunk flooding correct and would the foot wells not be wet as well? I have had severe rust deteriorate the bottom portion of the gas door as well, I presume from this trunk leak since its the same side the trunk leaks from? Any idea's? Come the warm weather I will be in trouble should water find a way into these wired area's. Thank you

The rear sunroof drains on the earlier production 00-05 ran down the sides of the car behind the rear doors, in the interior. See attached thread. This may be causing your problem.

The gas tank rust is a separate issue where water gets into a small sealed pocket below the floor of the inside of the gas tank filler area (it comes in through gaps in the welds between the quarter panel and the floor of the fuel filler area inside the door. and has no escape route so it eventually rusts through the sheet metal from the inside out.
