Stuck intake

Post by tkh2000 »

Doing the lower intake on my 2000 SE and I got it unbolted but it will not budge. How can I get the intake loose? Any tips would be appreciated. Pretty frustrated right now!

Make Sure All Bolts Are Out. I Think There Are Some You Can't See if Liquid Is there. You Can Carefully Pry Up On it

Ya I'm sure there all out and with 2 pry bars I can twist the entire motor on its mounts and this thing won't pop

Can Also Use A Mallet, Sometimes They Get A Auction Type Deal That's Tough To Break. Typically Should Pop Off Easy

Go to blue wording where it says REMOVE LIM. Make sure these bolts are removed. they are usually buried under oil.

Ok I'm a fool. Just found the hidden bolts. They are sitting in a pool of oil. Which is the reason I am taking it apart. The car has been using oil and after taking off the upper I found the top of the lower full of oil. It seemed to blow the oil up thru the PVC valve. If you know anything about that let me know

it's common for the lower to fill with a oily puddle aIt the low spots. wouldn' hurt to replace the pcv change and keep the o ring on it. other than that, did you upgrade the upper to the newest design?

I am upgrading the upper right now. My car only has 90000km on it and it uses a litre of oil every 1000km. It seems like it was blowing a lot of oil up thru the PVC valve. I was changing the upper and decided to do the lower gaskets, the valve covers and the new dorman upper intake. Hope that solves my problems.

FYI, there are 12 bolts that hold the LIM to the heads.

Thanks for the help. I got the LIM gaskets, valve cover gaskets and the new Dorman UIM installed. It runs great, doesn't smoke or anything but now the service engine soon light is on. The only thing I noticed during the job was the pressure sensor above the PCV didn't fit the new dorman parts very well.
