Saw this on the way to class this morning. It's bitterly cold here in Chicago, especially with the windchill. According to the internet, this is called a sun dog. It happens when the light from the sun is refracted by ice crystals in the atmosphere.

Wife said she saw this, this morning too. I did not, but then again, I was not looking at the sun. I was looking at my D:LKpfkdsahpfadsf driveway that I have to clear for the 275th time this month because it won't stop FLIPPING snowing and blowing!

Well, we definitely have no snow here to complain about, lots of grass actually. But we do get sun dogs frequently this time of year when the temp drops down in the -25 to -30 Range, definitely kind of cool to see, to bad it has to be so *dang* cold.

Guess you guys get to get in on some of the fun us Northerners see more often! Been seeing a lot of these lately. Sooooo cold here...it was -57 windchill when I went to work yesterday morning. And my 16 year old L36 still started right up without complaint. :)

Yeah, it was something cool to see. But it sucks knowing it's going to be frigid when I see it.

-57 with wind chill. I can't even comprehend that. It was like -15 this morning (don't know the windchill) and the Rainier was not happy being started this morning. I have to move it forward a little and the shifter didn't want to budge, and when I was getting out, I put my hand on the metal interior door handle, and my finger tips when instantly numb. :lol:

I can't wait til spring!!

Starting cars in winter is something that you take for granted until that one random day your car decides not to be so friendly to you. Thankfully my Bonneville has been marvelous all winter in Fargo, North Dakota.
