Engine Temp Issue
So I just replaced my Thermostat because my engine temp was fluctuating into the high ranges. It sits right below 200 which is optimal and then it starts creeping up and starts jumping around in the high heat ranges even after the swap. The heater is pushing out warm toasty air when it is at the 200 mark and as soon as it bumps up a little it turns cold as ice. Coolant is full, I know the thermostat is fine and maybe it takes a little break in time but i wouldn't think so. Any info or possible troubleshoots on this would be greatly appreciated

Re: Engine Temp Issue
Are you sure that the coolant temp is the problem? It could be a flaky sensor or stepper motor in the cluster also.

Re: Engine Temp Issue
well it may be a sensor possibly since the heat turns off as soon as it creeps over 200 but im not totally sure how to check if that is indeed the problem.

Re: Engine Temp Issue
you have an air pocket, if the temp increases and the heater goes cold....
bleed out the air from the thermostat housing
bleed out the air from the thermostat housing

Re: Engine Temp Issue
Should i use the little bleeder screw and put the nose of the car on a slight incline? Is there a better way?

Re: Engine Temp Issue
the bleeder screw is the correct way to bleed off the air.

Re: Engine Temp Issue
Alright and last question i have seen so many different procedures on the bleeding process i dont know which one to use. Could you tell me the proper steps to do this for our cars?

Re: Engine Temp Issue
Definitely point the nose up if you can. Should help expel the air quicker.

Re: Engine Temp Issue
It was a huge air pocket tool about 15 mins just to eliminate air and tipoff the radiator. Thanks for everybody's help!
