Cold starting issues

Okay, since the northland is suffering a severe deep freeze, my car is not very happy with it. Since the actual temps are well below -10 and the windchill is about -40, it could be just because of the cold but my 99 bonneville refuses to start even with a strong jump. When on just the battery it just turns over slow but when jumping it will turn over strong but sporadically, all jumpy and uneven. The fuel pump turns on and the bus ground has good connection. Any ideas?

Drag it with truck somewhere warm if possible and let it run. Or put jump on and spray gas into throttle body threw honeycomb air intake while cranking (not sure if that's too safe but it will give it life)

Could this contribute to the issue? It was set up like this when I bought the car and see more wires than there should be.

^^ I agree. Definitely needs a cleaning. That looks like the correct amount of wires iirc.

Yeah, I'd say that needs a good cleaning. More than likely the cause of the problem.

My LeSabre had problems starting over the years. Got worse as time went on (and got colder). My positive terminal looked like that. Of course, the corrosion on mine was so bad, I had to replace the battery cables. But after that and a good battery, I've had no trouble starting it anymore.

Brushed up the rats nest and it started like a charm. Was quite surprised... Starts quicker too

Now put some anti corrosive spray on the battery wires to stop it happening again :)

The battery picture could be the poster boy for needs attention. Then again, even a pristine looking connection can have problems on the inside that keeps the electrons from passing over.

Yeah, mine was a case where the inside of the wires were worse than the outside. I found corrosion a good 10 inches in on the big power cable.
