CAI Installed

Post by 731Loadmaster »

I installed my Homemade PCV CAI with a 7" cone attached to the OEM rubber adapter to the TB. It runs well, just a little hesitation and surging at lower speeds (Needs Tuning). But the cone is louder than I remember and wondering if there was any way to deaden it. I have a PCM mount under the tube with little clearance.
Can I wrap the 3" tube with material to lessen the sound? If so, what material?

Hmm, there really shouldn't be any surging or hesitation with an intake, and you really shouldn't need a tune that badly with one. If anything, my throttle response increased a ton with my fender well intake. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks anywhere...

The car should feel "more free" with the intake. Not hesitating. Also, the cons of the intake are the vacuum cleaner noise, can't really get rid of it.

the intake noise will be loudest when cold, your EGR opens and makes it wicked loud. the open cone is whats allowing the sound out.. would need to box it in somehow to quiet it down, not the pipe.
