You know what? I totally forgot to mention that i have a light on on the dash. It's ash exclamation point in a circle with parentheses. Also my HUD says check gauges but all my gauges are in the operating range. Obviously except for when i hit the gas.

does it look like this?
Brake indicator light

* lift up on your park brake lever a little and see if it clicks off, mine does this alot.
* Check your brake fluid Level, might be low.

Your 2000 SSEi has that light on the dash? You must provide a pic. I've never seen it before and I've been inside plenty of these clusters.

was that the problem, the ebrake lever was not clicked all the way up? dunno why but mine doesnt allways click off unless i let it snap up or release it with my foot then tap it up all the way with my toe.Rcassetty77 wrote:Huh! No kidding. E-Brake lever. Good call. What's up with that?

This was informative. I might have something similar based on symptoms. On cold startup, serious rattling, liek a heat shield is being tossed off, but it subsides when engine settles. I believe that the ignition module is bad because it has had a tough time not fluttering on load up a hill on the highway. Wondering if one can lead to the other. Bad ign Mod=> plugged cat? I'm getting similar boost stacking with a horrible noise when rpms are high and boost is past max, plus no power. I can use the throttle to keep the pressure from maxing out and still accelerate to highway speed at a decent rate, but definitely feel the lack of power. The new problem seems to compound the ign mod problem too.
Yesterday, it threw a DTC, plugged in the BlueTooth adapter and checked the code; catalyst system efficiency not within spec. I had left the car idling for a couple of hours, so this may have caused the problem. So, I'm pretty sure the cat's bad. I reset the code, have put a couple hundred miles on it, no code! LOL I figure the guts of the cat have migrated to the muffler because the exhaust note is louder on acceleration, but pressure stacking still happens. Hopefully the mufflers can be emptied out too.
I do want to start with mods so, what are the options for better exhaust?
Should I stick with stock ign module and coil packs?
Looking to take care of this in the next few weeks, might need it for a trip to Florida in February...
